Amissville R u r i t a n Club sponsored a Christmas de! coration contest for that area and on Saturday winners j were announced. First place was awarded 1 Mr. and Mrs. Francis Leo- : nard. Placing second was the home of Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Priest and the Misses Garland, Lucille and Marion Riley placed third. Mr. and Mrs. E. G. Hackley and Mr. and Mrs. John Silvey, Jr., received honorable mention. Judges were members of Rappahannock Garden Club. Homes were judged on Friday night, December 28.

For Mouse Control
The sooner the better now when it comes to applying endrin for mouse control in Virginia orchards. Horticulturists at Virginia Polytechnic Institute say relatively good control can be obtained through March, but it’s best to remove the mouse hazard as early as possible in the dormant season. The specialists point out that failing to control mice is a major problem in fruit production. Poisoned baits have rarely given satisfactory control of orchard mice in Virginia. But the development at VPI of the endrin ground spray method has provided a much more effective means of control.
