The lighted valance is the most popular type of structural lighting, always used over a window. It usually directs light both upward over the ceiling and downward over the wall and draperies.

Faceboards can blend with the room decorations or they can be decorative. Their minimum width is 6 inches, they seldom should be wider than 10 inches, and 8 inches usually is wide enough for valances 8 or more feet long. The inside of the faceboard should be painted flat white. There must be at least 2 inches between the center of the flou rescent lamp and the front face of the drapery material to insure uniform lighting from top to bottom. Standard drapery installation allows the inside of the faceboard to be 7 inches, but if bulky draperies are used this distance might have to be increased to 8 or more inches. There should be a 10 inch space between the valance faceboard and the I ceiling. To assure a wide spread of light on the ceiling, the flourescent channel and lamp should be mounted close to the top of the faceboard.

Add dried and glazed fruits to biscuits, muffins, cookies, and cakes of all kinds. For a holiday sandwich, mix apricots, prunes or raisins with peanut butter or cream cheese and use like a spread. To keep cabbage, celery and lettuce at their best, store them in perforated or unsealed polyethylene bags at refrigerator temperature between 32 and 35 degrees. Suede clothes are increasing in popularity - and to get the most for your money, I suede must be given proper I care.
