■ -rf. Airlie House, the unique conference center near Warrenton, Va., was the scene of a regional meeting attended by local welfare superintendent Elizabeth Buntin this past Tuesday. The meeting, attended by superintendents of public welfare from all the northern localities of the state was held for the purpose of learning the details involved in the operation of the new public assistance program, Medical Assistance for the Aged, which will become effective January 1, 1964. This program is provided for in legislation enancted by the General Assembly at its 1962 session. Its purpose is to provide medical assistance to lowincome persons sixty-five years of age or over who generally have sufficient income to meet their needs except for medical care. It is designed to provide essential medical, dental, and hospital care so that elderly people can take care of themselves to the greatest possible extent in their declining years.
