Skin Diseases In Cattle
When cattle are brought in from pasture and crowded together in smaller spaces for the winter, two skin diseases often appear, says Dr. S. L. Kalison, veterinarian at Virginia Polytechnic Institute. These diseases are warts and ringworm. Warts are caused by a virus and may be found on cattle of any age, but most often they attack young animals. Warts spread by direct contact and the smaller the quarters, the more chance the animals will contact each other.
