Interest To Veterans
Many veterans now in VA hospitals will spend Christmas with their families. It is the policy of VA hospital officials where it is medically possible to give patients leave for the holidays. However, there will still be hundreds in our VA hospitals unable to leave. The hospital staff, the VA volunteer Workers and veteran organizations will go all out to help lighten the burden of loneliness with Christmas parties, entertainment and bedside visits. But to the hospitalized veteran nothing is like seeing or hearing from someone he knows. The best gift of all is a personal visit. If it is not possible to make the trip the next best remembrance is a letter or a Christmas card with some news of home. If you are thinking of a suitable gift, candy and foodstuffs are not recommended because many patients are on diets.
