COUNTY AGENT WOW! Of the 103 bulls in the Culpeper R. O. P. Bull Feeding Test, two of Ned John son’s led them all In growth rate! Bull No. 45 has grown at the rate of 3.75 lbs. per day (84 day average dally gain) while bull No. 44 has a growth rate of 3.65 lbs. per day! Bet Ned has fingers on both hands crossed in hopes this record can be maintained. Ne<^ don’t hold your breath though as we’d rather have you still around comes sale date, (March 13th) than to see your bulls stay on top! Other bulls on test averaging three pounds per day are as follows: #2, #13, #29, #35, #41 (also a Johnson bull), #55, #56. #59, #65, #67, #68, #69, #82, #97, #113 and #121. All bulls averaged 2.66 pounds; Angus 2.69, Shorthorn 2.67 and Hereford 2.60. Both of the Johnson bulls are by his senior herd sire affectionately called "Front Royal". Their dams are unrelated. "Front Royal* was a leading performer himself on: feed tests run at the Beef Cattle Research Center several years ago and has contributed a decided influence in the development of desirable beef cattle in The Oaks herd.
