A snow storm reaching alnost bi i z z ar d proportions )aralyzedRappahannock and surrounding area Sunday and Monday. Snow began falling early Sunday morning and continued throughout the day and night and most of Monday. Monday afternoon skies cleared for a while then clouded and snowed again for a short time. i According to Miss Ruby Jenkins, the official measure here was 12 1/2 inches. The snow was accompanied by high winds which drifted the light snow and plummeting temperatures hovering at 10 degrees. Schools have been closed three days. Business activity was at a standstill Monday,with only a few people daring to venture out. State Highway crews worked round the clock from Sunday morning until Wednesday night All roads are open and highways in excellent condition. M. H. Brady of the Highway Department recommends the use of chains on secondary roads. Wallace Critzer busied him. self with the task of clearing snow in the town of Washington and answering calls to individuals.

Happy about the whole thing is Skyline Ski Area in Harris Hollow. Bob Read, Public Relations Manager for the Ski area, said with a grin, *1 hope it stays here the rest of the winter." Temperature in Washington, Va. Wednesday morning was 2 below zero.
