driver education courses as 'the greatest single longrange remedy of the traffic problem known in the nation today.* The letter defines driver education as a combatant of the Virginia traffic death rate which, at its current rate, will see “one out of every two t>oys and girls in the state* killed or injured in an auto crash “during his or her normal lifetime. The speakers will explain why schools should offer driver education; the elements af a good program, purposes served by classroom and practice driving instruction; how communities can help their schools meet problems of teacher selection and preparation, finance and course sched iling; and action a community can take toward installing driver education in its high schools. General questions and discussions will predominate the meeting, according to the invitational letter. The meeting sponsors said that persons interested in driver education will be welcome at the meeting, even if they do not receive invitations. The invitations were directed to government, school, civic and business leaders believed to be either interested or involved in driver education or schools.
