To keep the $345 million arterial program on a 12-year completion deadline the High* way Commission would have to draw heavily upon regular primary construction funds beginning with the fiscal year 1965- 66. Under existing legislation re* venues for future arterial work will total about $9 million annually. An additional $20 million annually would have to come from regular primary fund sources to maintain the 12-year schedule. The Department, although it const ders the four-laning arterial improvements the most urgent need in the state's vast road networkj wants to maintain some balance in the primary construction prt* gram, so as to meet Important needs on non-arterlal roads; Thus, the timetable might have to be re-evaluated in view of the future burden on regular primary funds. The tentative lists of projects in this area are: Route 211—relocation at Massies Corner 1.8 miles. In nearby counties projects are; Fauquier, Routes IS fc 29, Warrenton to Opal, 4.8 miles.
