Joseph B. Brown, seaman apprentice, USN, son of Mr. and Mrs. William J. Brown of Sperryville, is serving aboard the command ship USS Wright operating out of Norfolk.
Wright is presently in the Norfolk Naval Shipyard, Portsmouth, undergoing an extensive overhaul. The ship is equipped with special communications facilities which enable her to direct major fleet operations.

Mrs. Jimmy Wayland entertained a group of about twenty children on April 8 for her son, Greg who celebrated his 5th birthday. The guests enjoyed games and refreshments. Ralph Strawn of Warrenton was a supper guest on Wednesday evening of Mr. and Mrs. H. H. Aylor. Ned Woodard who has been a patient for some time in Newton D. Baker hospital in Martinsburg, W. Va. has returned to his home here. His condition is very satisfactory Carlton Atkins who had surgery at University Hospital recently returned to his home last week and is reported to be recovering satisfactorily. Dennis Jenkins and his daughter, Mrs. Lester Deal, Ivan Jenkins of Culpeper, William Smith of Washington, D. C. spent last week in Narberth, Pa. and attended the funeral of their kinsman Baron L.
