Mrs. James Smoot
Mrs. Carrie Rean Smoot, 73, of White Post died Sunday, April 26, 1964, at the home of her daughter Mrs. Anna Craig. She was born at Flint Hill, a daughter of Pete J. and Caroline Clark Rutherford, and was married to James H. Smoot in Washington, Va. 53 years ago. In addition to her husband and Mrs. Craig she is survived by the following sons and daughters: Mrs. Patsy Carpenter of Boyce, Mrs. Ua Mae Riley of Amissville and Mrs. Carolyn Evins of Manassas; Jessie L. Smoot of Frederick County, Pete J. Smoot of Winchester; two sisters Mrs. Ada Wince of The Plains and Mrs. Rose Colvin of Marshall. A funeral service was held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the Macedonia Methodist Church, the Rev. Ronald S. Clark officiating, with interment in Macedonia Cemetery.

Mrs. Herbert Hash and daughter Reva Clare were in Richmond on Saturday to visit her son Randolph Hash at the University of Richmond and attended the V. M. I. - U. of Richmond baseball game in which he played. Mrs. Hash had word on Monday that Herbert Hash, jr., stationed with the Army in Germany will be • having a leave and will visit in Holland and Paris. Mi6s Faye Burke was one of the group of 19 F. B. L. A. students of Culpeper High School who attended the weekend Convention at the Roanoke Hotel in Roanoke. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Duncan and son Bill of Alexandria and Mrs. Jesse Hawkins of Boston were Saturday evening guests of Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Burke. Week-end guests were Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Butler and daughter Cfirolyn Sue of Arlington. Sunday dinner guests of Mrs. Frank Butler and son James were Mr. and Mrs. Harry Lohman of Brandywine, Md. Sunday supper guests were Mr. and Mrs. Freddie Butler and daughter Paula, 3,. Mr. and Mrs. Charlie FIncham’ spent Sunday visiting Mr. and Mrs. Shelton Scroggins of Lignum. Sunday guests of Mr. and Mrs. Claude Sparks were Mrs. Sparks’ sister and brothers in-law Mr. and Mrs. James Chadwell and son Charles and Mr. and Mrs. Richard Welch, all of Haymarket. On April 29 Mrs. Sparks will enter Culpeper Memorial Has' pital for observation. Her sister Mrs. Robert Jenkins of Rixeyvllle will care for the Sparks children during her absence. C. J. Ireland attended the two day fox-hunt held Friday and Saturday with the Tidewater Foxhunters Association Mr. and Mrs. Ray Frazier and family were in Fredericksburg Sunday and visited their son and daughter-in-law Mn. and Mrs. Hostman Frazier and family.
