The Methodist Summer Camp near Boston, Va. buzzes with activity from the last week of June until the middle of August as the young people from Charlottesville District of Methodist Chufches come and enjoy a week of camping experience. Each week a different group attends camp. They come from as far south as Madison Heights; east to Scottsville, west to the Blue Ridgp and north to Flint Hill. The camp was purchased in the spring of 1956 by the Charlottesville District, and has been in use each summer since Prior to this time it was a boys’ camp which had been established by Herbert Hash of Boston and Stan Spence of Kinston, N. C.,.who were with the Boston Red Sox baseball team. They had bought the property from the late DickC. Weaver in 1947. In addition to the lodge already there, the Methodist have erected eight cabins to house a total of over eighty persons, and much work has been done to improve the grounds.
