Make Preparations
For Annual Carnival
Preparation has been underway for several weeks in Amissville for the annual firemens carnival which will open next Wednesday for a four-night run. This is the last firemens carnival of the season in the county. Beginning Wednesday Aug12 the carnival will open with a display of fireworks plus the many rides on the midway, good food, games and entertainment.
A grand parade will be the feature event Thursday evening and will begin at 7 p.m. Eight contestants are competing for Queen of the carnival. Coronation of the winner will take place Friday night. Climaxing the carnival will be the awarding of the grand prize, a 1964 Valiant, on Saturday night. A large assortment of other prizes will also be given away. The fire company and community extend a cordial welcome to all.
On Friday evening the following prizes were also awarded: $100 - Mrs. Christi^ Front Royal; Set of ChinaDouglas Blanton, Jr., Front Royal; $25 - Vernon Manuel, Front Royal. The annual event was climaxed on Saturday night with the awarding of a 1964 Plymouth to Lawrence E. Johnson of Front Royal, and the following cash prizes: $75 - Lawrence R. Williams, Chester Gap; $50 - Levi Atkins Sr., Amissville; $25 - T. M. Chadwell, Front Royal.
