Vincent F. Callahan, Jr., Republican candidate for Lieutenant Governor, is an author, editor, and publisher who heads his own publishing firm and is also the executive head of a Northern Virginia public relations firm. Born in Washington, D. C. in 1931 to Virginian parents, Callahan was a 1963 candidate for the Virginia House of Delegates polling the highest number of votes received by any Republican running in Northern Virginia.
Active in the successful 1962 and 1964 campaigns of Congressman Joel T. Broyhill, he was 10th District Campaign Coordinator and chairman of the 10th District GoldwaterMiller Committee in 1964. A member of the Fairfax Coun ty Republican Committee, he was an alternate delegate to the 1964 Republican National Convention. Callahan has a B.S. in foreign service from Georgetown University and studied journalism at American University. A Marine in 1950-53, he was a Coast Gua rd Reserve officer in 1959-63. He is a member of the American Legion, Jaycees, Kiwanis, National Press Club, Army and Navy Club, numerous professional and civic organizations, and is a past president of the n a t i o n a 1 Independent Newsletters Association. He has five children.
