Delegate Fred Pollard has been a member of the House since 1950. He is chairman of the Committee on Officers and Offices at the Capitol; a ranking member, Appropriations and General Laws Committee; originator of a plan under which the majority of Virginia’s laws have been revised and modernized in the last ten years (corporate laws, criminal code, civil andcriminal procedures, county court system, etc.) He is vice-chairman of the Virginia Advisory Legislative Council, Subcommittee which drafted the new Uniform Commercial Code; member Executive Committee Jamestown Foundation; member of Capitol Renovation Com mission 1963-64. Born in Richmond May 7, 1919, he was educated in Richmond public schools, Episcopal High School in Alexandria, and University of Virginia where he obtained Bachelor of Arts and Law Degrees. He is a practicing attorney, member of the law firm of Williams, Mullen and Christian. He served in World War II as a lieutenant in the U. S. Naval Reserve, participating in Anzio landings and invasion of southern France, receiving a commendation ribbon for the latter. He is an elder in the Second Presbyterian Church in Richmond, and a member of the American Legion. He has two sons, 16 and 14.
