Meadowbrook Hall
“Meadowbrook Hall’, the distinguished 740-acre estate near Flint Hill that has been the scene of numerous Rappahannock Hunt balls, has been sold to Dr. and Mrs. Werner Krebser of McLean. It was sold by William R. Ratliff and his wife, Mary, who have occupied the large white Edwardian style home for about two and a half years. The sale was negotiated by Edward A. Harris & Associates, Realtors of Huntly. It is understood the sales contract calls for settlement early next year. Dr. Krebser, a prominent general physician in Northern Virginia, does not plan at present to move here, but will use MeadowbrookHall as a week-end and summer place. The estate also includes cottages and tenant houses, hay barns and a large horse barn and other outbuildings. During the recent Bromfield Parish House Tour hundreds of visitors had an opportunity to go through the impressive home, which was built at the beginning of the century by Dr. and Mrs. Thomas A. Bryan. In 1915 it was bought by Mr. and Mrs. W. P. Slaughter who remodeled it to include the ballroom and the solarium, \arficl improved and expanded the formal garden and put in the large swimming pool. The elegance of the gardens has been carefully maintained by the Ratliffs. The Ratliff’s daughter, Mava, attends the Rappahannock Elementary School.
