D. Dortch Warriner, Republican Candidate for Attorney General, has been in the general practice of law since 1957. Born in Brunswick County in 1929, he won his A.B. in political science in 1951 at the University of North Carolina where he was attorney general of the UNC Student Government and chairman of the Consolidated University of North Carolina Student Council. A 1957 graduate of the University of Virginia Law School, he served on the editorial board of the Virginia Law Review and was a winner in Appellate Court Competition.
A lieutenant in the Naval Reserve, Warriner served as an operations officer on a destroyer during the Korean War. He is currently District Governor of Lions District 24-B and helped organize the Greensville United Fund. A past president of the Lmporia Jaycees and Emporia Lions Club, he has been a Lions Zone Chairman and Deputy District Governor, and is a past president of the Emporia Civic Club. Warriner is G r ee.ns v i 1 le County Republican Chairman, a 4th District member of the Republican State Central Committee, and was a 1964 alternate delegate to the Republican National Convention. He has a son and two daughters.
