Seal Sales Only

At Halfway Mark

Mrs. F. L. Bowey of Amissville, Christmas Seal Chairman for Rappahannock County for 1965, announced that over 1200 letters were mailed to residents of the county in the current Christmas Seal Campaign. Response has been good but contributions to date are just a bit over the halfway mark of last year's total. Mrs. Bowey urges citizens to use their Christmas Seals and to answer their Seal letter as generously as they can. “Tuberculosis respects no age limits, and this is particularly true when it comes to other respiratory diseases in children,” Mrs. Bowey said. “During a national survey, it was learned that respiratory conditions account for more than half of the'acute illnesses among children under 15. Hay fever, asthma and other allergies account for one-third of all chronic conditions reported for children under 17.” Mrs. Bowey called attention to the fact that Christmas Seal contributions make it possible for the Tuberculosis and Health Association of Northern Virginia to supply Children's Health Adventures for each child in the county through the sixth grade for seven months during the school year. This publication, written for the different levels of understanding, is used by the teachers in stressing better health habits, to underline the imporfance of building strong bodies which can resist TB and other respiratory diseases.

This week returns in the Christmas Seal Campaign of the Tuberculosis and Health Association of Northern Virginia have brought the total for these counties to:
