Styers Leave for
Smith America
Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Styer of Washington are enroute to South America where they will spend four months. They left Sunday from Friendship Airport for New Orleans where they will sail aboard the freighter, Gulf Banker to the southern continent. The Styers plan to spend a month in Peru and go from there to Chile. It seems Rappahannock travelers often have difficulty getting “on the road". The Styers had planned to leave by train from Culpeper Saturday evening, but after waiting for the train for a couple of hours they inquired to find that a threatening trainmen’s strike had cancelled the run. So back home to make other arrangements, the flight from Friend ship which they were indeed fortunate to get. The Rev. and Mrs. Charles Glaenzer of Washington accompanied the Styers to the train and after the cancellation, took them home with them to spend the night. Sunday morning Mrs. Glaenzer took them to Manassas and they were accompanied from there to the plane by their daughter.
