American Cancer Society volunteers are bringing lifesaving facts on cancer to thousands of Virginia home? during the April Cancer Crusade in an effort to stress the importance of early diagno sis in cancer control. » The life-saving information Is presented in the Society’s new leaflet, "CANCER and YOU: Facts That May Help You Save Your Life." The leaflet is an important part of the Society’s educational Tell Your Neighbor* program.
President Lyndon B. Johnson, who received the first copy of the leaflet, commented on its distribution by Amerl can Cancer Society volunteers: “You are breaking through the fear of superstition that surrounds this terrible disease. You are telling Americans that early detection and early treatment can save countless thousands of lives every year. “...Some day—I hope within our time—a,cure for cancer will be found. The foundation for this breakthough is now being laid by men and women like yourselves. A great, unified national effort is now underway and I salute you....* National Chairman for the Society’s 1966 educational and fund-raising Crusade i s Gregory Peck, academy award actor who received his first training as an actor at The Barter Theatre of Virginia in Abingdon. Mas Rowae Sings With Symphony Chorus
The Richmond Symphony Orchestra and a 350 voice choir presented "Carmina Beurana* at the Mosque in Richmond Monday evening. The combined chorus consisted of several choirs of universities, Miss Linda Rowzie of Amissviile and Richmond was a member of the choral group. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph H. Rowzie and Miss Sandra Rowzie of Ami8sville attended the presentation.
