The Federal Communlca tlons Commission announo ed today that It had adopted an order assigning Channel 51 to Staunton and reserved the Channel for non-commercial educational use. The announcement by the Federal Communications Com mission represents the successful culmination of a prolonged effort by the Shenandoah Valley Educational Television Corporation purposes. The area which is part of the "national radio quiet zone” previously had no open channel assignments. Shenandoah Valley ETV wl file an application for Channel 51 as soon as engineering details can be completed. Ii Is the plan of SVETV to locate a transmitter to operate or Channel 51 atop Elliott’s Knot near Staunton.
