Arlington and a low of almost 59 percent in Buchanan. The 1955-56 high in master’s degrees was 30 percent in Arlington and the low was none shared by six counties. The 1965-66 high rose to 38.1 percent in Falls Church and one county continued to employ no holders of the master’s degree. , . ,
The increase in degree teach era over the ten year period w&s highest in Dickenson. The degree holding teachers rose fr'pm nearly 26 percent to more than 59 percent. Other localities, behind the state average in 1955-56, which have shown large gains include, in order, Page, Norton, Middlesex, Carroll, Colonial Heights and King George.
The largest percentage increases in holders of the master’s degree were found in Powhatan, Highland, Fluvanna, Charlottesville, Caroline and Colonial Heights. Despite the Virginia trend towards employment of more masters’ degree holders, ten localities with relatively low percentages in 1955-56 decreased ovefMhe ten year period.
