The fields of research of Hazelton include*, the life sciences and chemistry with specific fields in toxicology, pharmacology, chemistry (organic, analytical, pharmaceutical, and biochemical), microbiology, histology, tissue culture, pathology, cancer chemotherapy, behavioral research, gnotobiotics, quality control, radio-biology and marine biology. A major development in this area is the announcement of The American Tobacco Company of Richmond to invest $9,500,000 in an 180,000 square foot plant for a new products division and department of research and develop ment laboratory] A staff of about 75 is planned. In Hopewell, Firestone Synthetic Fibers Co. will constuct a major technical center for the development of nylon and polyester synthetic fibers. The center will be constucted adjacent to the main plant in central Hopewell and will contain development facilities for polyester in addition to experimental, test and development production of nylon polyester blends and other fibers.

The Washington HI 4-H Club held its regular December meeting with president Dale Woodward presiding. With an interest in clothing as projects, the ten best dressed girls in school were selected as follows: Deborah Barron, Dale Woodward, Betsy Williams, Brenda Printz, Judy Alther, Mavise Raney, Brenda Fincham, Janet Cloud, Geraldine Settle and Vicki Settle.

Amissville Auxiliary Plans Firemen’s Banquet
The Amissville Ladies Auxi liary held its January meeting at the fire house Tuesday the 10th. The date for the annual firemens banquet was set for Friday, March 17 and plans for this were made.
