Sought for Benefit
The Rappahannock Library and Historical Society are ask ing for the contribution of saleable articles for their Auc tion on July 4, which is a joint benefit. Any item large or small, old or new, furnishings, pictures, books, machines, animals and decorative pieces valued from one to one hundred dollars will be acceptable. More expensive items may., be sold on consignment basis - the Benefit taking a percentage of the sale price. The Historical Society Museum building - the old telephone exchange - has been mov ed to grounds donated by the Telephone Company and a base ment built under it. This work has been paid for, but interior repairs are needed before it can be used, also landscaping must be done. The Library needs operational funds to expand its service to the community. All profits from the Auction and accompanying supper to be held at the newly remodeled building at the blinker light in Washington will be divided between these two worthy County services.
Contributions of furnishings and other things can be left at the building anytime aftei June 25. For further information about donations, consignments or delivery of same please call Mrs. B. M. Miller. A buffet supper will be served at 5:30 and hot dogs and hamburgers will be cooked on an open pit barbecue by Tom F’latt. After the auction is over at 8 p. m. there will be a band concert around the lake at Avon Hall preceding the annual fireworks display. The Library will have an Exhibit featuring "Rappahannock Then and Now^ with a speaker at 3 p. m.
