At a Republican Nominating Convention held Saturday, June 17 in Harrisonburg Steven Bradshaw, a Harrisonburg lawyer, was nominated as the GOP candidate for the 20th Virginia Senatorial District. He won out over Bernard L. Stokes of Front Royal whose name had been put forward as a "favorite son candidate." The nomination was unanimous after Stokes’ plea for unity. At the Convention J. A. B.
