Injuries Slight In
Traffic Crashes
Two traffic crashes occurs ed last week, Wednesday, June 14 in Rappahannock. Shortly before noon on Route 211 in front of Hampton Inn near Washington a 67 Dodge and a 63 Chevy II collided. Accord ing to Trooper W. A. Buntin, the Dodge operated by Pauline Knowlton of Phoenix, Ariz. was meeting the Chevy II II operated by John N. (Ollie) Dodson of Sperryville. Dodson made a left turn into a drive way and cut in front of the Knowlton vehicle.
Slightly injured in the crash were Valerie Likens, 13 and Linda Likens, 15, both of phoenix and passengers in the Knowlton car. V a 1 e r i e received abrasions of the left leg and complained with her neck and back. Linda sustain ed a possible broken toe.
Damage to the vehicles was estimated at $200 to the Dodson car and $400 to the Knowlton Dodge. Dodson was charg ed with reckless driving, said the officer.
On the same day at 5:15 in the afternoon on Route 615 near Estes, Trooper Buntin investi gated a second collision. This involved Frederick Delf operating a 66 Ford truck owned by Browning Tractor and Equipment of Culpeper and Clarence Dudley Scott of Castleton in a 61 Chevrolet. Investigation disclosed that the truck came onto Route 615 from a' side road and was struck by the Scott car. Damage was estimated at $300 to the truck and $600 to the car. Delf was charged with failing to yield the right of way.
