At i a.m. Sunday morning Samuel D. Snead of Washington, Va., operating a 1966 International Scout, over turned on Route 211 two miles east of Sperryville. H e rounded a curve, ran off the right of the road and over turned, accord’ ing to Trooper J. B, Willis. Snead told the officer he apparently fell asleep.
Estimated damage to the vehv cle, which, was owned by his mother Mrs. Lois D. Snead, was $600, said the officer. He was charged with reckless driving. At 1 p.m. Tuesday morning on Route 522 a mile and a half south of Flint Hill a single-vehicle crash occurred. Mrs. Loretta Evon Clater of Washington, Va.was operating a 66 Comet traveling south when she was forced off the highway by another vehicle. Her car ran down an embankment, struck a stone wall and came to rest on its top in the field, according to Trooper P.P. Dicks.
Mrs. Clater sustained bruises of both arms and a lacerated right leg. Her hus band, Ernest Franklin Clater, a passenger with her, received lacerations of the chin and lip and a sprained leftarm. He was taken to Warren Memorial Hospital, Front Royal by private auto where he was treated and released.
