A special archery season for deer, bear, and squirrels is now in, statewide. Bow and arrow is a legal weapon for all game species during the regular season. This special season for deer, bear, and squirrels opened October 15 and will extend through November 15. Archers may kill one deer in Rappahannock County during this period, which may be of either sex. The regular bag limits of one bear, 75 pounds or over, per year and six squirrels per day apply. Deer and bear must be tagged and checked and must be counted in the hunters yearly bag limit.
Checking stations are located as last year; at F. D. Coffey’s Esso Station in Sperryville, Baldwins Store in Washington, Jenkins Esso Station in Amissville, Bradford’s Store in Flint Hill and McCleary’s Mt. Store at Chester Gap.
