A single-vehicle crash occurred at the detour on Route 211 at Ben Venue Wednesday morning. According to Trooper W. A. Buntin, Edward Lewis Leonard of Broadway ran past the detour barricade and up a bank. Damage to the 1963 Studebaker he was driving was estimated at $500. Leonard sustained a mashed nose.

Mrs. Shirley Irene DeMent of Sperryville escaped injury Monday when she overturned in a 62 Volkswagen on Route 522 three miles south of Sperryville. The crash occurred about 11:20 a.m. Mrs. DeMent skidded on the wet pavement, onto the grassy shoulder of the road and overturned, according to a report filed by Trooper R. M. Dodson. The vehicle was owned by Clarence R. Nussbaumer of Langley Park, Md.

Howard Clayton Jones of Flint Hill was charged with following too closely when the Honda motorcycle he was operating struck the rear of a vehicle in front of him last Thursday. The collision occurred on Route 628 a bit over a mile south of Flint Hill.

James Lee Atkins of Washington was operating a 67 Plymouth east on the road. He signaled for a left turn and as hei turned the Honda struck the left rear of the car, according to Trooper K. L. Miller’s report. Jones sustained a bruised right ankle and cut hand. Damage was estimated at $100 to the car and $75 to the Honda.
