Lee Thornton
Philip Lee Thornton Jr., of Sperryville died Monday, May 19, 1969 at Fauquier Hospital, Warrenton where he was a surgical patient. He was 52 years old and was the manager of the Rappahannock Farmers’ Cooperative in Sperryville. A native of Rappahannock, he was the son of the late Philip Lee and Mildred Miller Thornton, both of Rappahannock County.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Frances Brown Thornton; a son, Warrant Officer P. Lee Thornton III; a brother, Dr. James M. Tliomton of Gate City; and two sisters, Mrs. James William Fletcher of Sperryville and Mrs. J. Rodes Brown, Jr., Staunton.
A funeral service was held at the graveside in the Woodville Cemetery at 2 p.m. Wednesday conducted by Father Maurice du Castillion.
Pallbearers were Tom Frost, Oscar Lindgren, James F. Massie, Robert F. Estes, Forrest Rettger, Dr. John P. Snead. Georee Beard.
