Two small boys were found unharmed Monday morning after wandering away from their country cottage Sunday afternoon at Rappahannock Park near Amissville and spending the night asleep in a Held.
They were Chuck and Randy Newbold, 7-year-old twin sons of Mr. and Mrs. B. C. Newbold of Reston who had come with their father to spend Sunday at the cottage. They were last seen about 3 p.m. as they took a walk up a path near Lake Wilson and when they failed to return in due time a frantic search by father and neighbors ensued without success. The Amissville Rescue Squad responded to a call for aid and later the county sheriffs department and state police were notified. The search continued until midnight when most would be rescuers turned in since the night-time vigil proved futile. The sheriff and deputies made a search of all barns, sheds or other buildings until 3 a m.
Rescue efforts resumed as early as 5:30 the next morning as groups assembled to walk the nearby river and scan the country side By ten o’clock volunteers had arrived in great numbers, but: before they could be pressed into' service, the boys had been found.1
