They wandered into the nouse owned by Mr Davis several miles from their cottage where men were painting. They were brought wet and chilly to the Amissville fire house and rushed by ambulance to Fauquier Hospital, Warrenton for a check which revealed them hale and hearty.

According to statements by the boys, who appeared entirely undaunted from their experience, “we walked around a while -- then we caught a frog - after walking around some more, we found a box turtle. We walked a lot more and we thought we were lost. We fumed the frog loose and later saw a dead fawn and it seemed like we were lost.” When asked if they slept, they replied they had laid down in the field and gone to sleep. To the query “did it rain on you" the reply was affirmative. They also said they heard the sirens and noise of the previous night, but were scarec^

and did not make their presence known.

Mr. Newbold expressed his profound gratitude for the numbers of people who came to his assistance, to the neighbors, rescue squads. Sheriff’s department, police, horsemen, walkers, riders, individuals and groups. The Amissville Rescue Squad and Fire Department added a note of thanks to all who came to help also.
