Pvt. E2 Wade F. Settle, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Wade F. Settle of Flint Hill and grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Luther Payne of Washington, Va. has completed eight weeks of basic training and eight weeks of C.F.P. training at Fort Dix, N. J. where he was awarded the Good * Conduct ribbon and Sharp Shooter and Grenade medal. He left Sunday night for a year’s duty in Germany where he will be serving as a cook.
Benefit Baseball Game
The Sperryville Tigers Baseball Club will play a benefit game on Saturday, Oct. 4 beginning at 2 p.m. Gate proceeds will go 4 toward the newly organized Sperryville Rescue Squad. Everyone is welcome.
