Robert Franklin Estes, a prominent businessman and civic leader of Sperryville, died Saturday, September 27, 1969. He was 62; bom August 15, 1907; a native of Rappahannock County and the son of the late James A. and Ella Hyde Estes.
Mr. Estes was president of Sperryville Fire Department and had held the office for many years. He was a member of Washington Masonic Lodge No. 78 A.F. and A.M., of Sperryville Methodist Church and of the Rappahannock County Democratic Committee. He owned and operated Bob’s Souvenir Shop west of Sperryville.
Survivors include three sisters, Mrs. Annabel Swindler, with whom he made his home, Mrs. Emma Swindler and Mrs. Margaret Devers, all of Sperryville; a brother, Charles H. Estes, also of Sperryville; and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Tuesday afternoon in Sperryville Cemetery with full Masonic rites. The Rev. Jerry Campbell officiated.
Clore Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Edmund Martin were Mr. and Mrs. Francis Martin of Summit, N. J., Mrs. Elaine Krause ind children, Mrs. Buddy Smith ind family of Towson, Md. and Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Adams of Cq|legeville, Pa. Guests arriving for the week-end at the home of Mr. and Mrs. I. L. Parrish will be Mrs. William E. Phelps and Mr. and Mrs. Amos Norton, all of Wilmington, Del.
