Trout Stocked Today
The North Fork of the Thornton River will be stocked today, Thursday, Oct. 16 at about 2:30 p.m. Also being stocked today is the Hughes River in Madison and Rappahannock Counties at Pqola Mills. Seven hundred and fifty trout will be put in each of these two streams.
The season for bow hunters on deer, bear, and squirrels is now in progress. It will continue through Nov. 15. The season on raccoon is now in Rappahannock and all adjoining counties. The dove season will continue through Saturday, November 1. Sunset and quitting time for dove hunters this Saturday will be 6:33 p.m. Daylight Time.
Scout Fall Camporee
Boy Scouts of Rappahannock, Page, Shenandoah and Warren counties will hold their fall camporee at Egypt Bend Estates in Page County this weekend, October 17, 18 and 19. Scouts from Amissville Troop 50 and from the troop in Flint Hill will attend.
Some of the highlights of the weekend will be Patrol Scoutdraft competition Saturday afternoon and a campfire ceremony in the evening. Parents and friends are invited to see “scouting in action.”
Folk Song Concert
At Library Friday
Chuck and Nan Perdue of Woodville will appear in a program of folk music which will be held at the Rappahannock Library Friday, October 17 at 8 p.m. They have a broad background of performances, having appeared at many clubs, festivals and given numerous concerts as well as appearing in educational films and programs. They will present a program of southern folk songs, sea chanties, topical songs and parodies written by Chuck, accompanied by a variety of instruments. The public is invited.
