In the heavy traffic of the weekend with visitors touring the mountains to view the colorful foliage, only one minor collision was reported in Rappahannock. Trooper J. B. Willis reported two cars involved in a wreck on Route 211 a mile west of Sperryville. Ralph Henry Dellevie of Washington, D.C. operating a 66 Mercury stopped to make a left turn and was struck in the rear by a 69 Volkswagen operated by Sylvester Mickiewecz of Elizabeth, N.J. He was charged with following too closely.
Edwin Adolph Estes of Castleton was seriously injured irt a two-car collision on Route 729 last Wednesday. Estes was driving a 58 Ford pickup and was struck by a 65 Pontiac operated by Tennes Sylvester Girbble of Rixeyville when they met on a curve. Lewis Wharton of Castleton, a passenger in the pickup, sustained a fractured arm, head, chest and leg injury. Estes sustained broken jaws, chest injury, broken arm and lacerations of the face. He is a patient in the University of Virginia Hospital, Charlottesville.
Gribble sustained chest and rib injuries and was taken to Culpeper Memorial Hospital by Trooper W. A. Buntin who investigated the crash. He was also charged with reckless driving by the officer.
