Six Injured in
Route 211 Crash
Six people were injured in a two-car collision on Route 211 last Thursday evening. The wreck occurred between Amissville and Ben Venue when a 63 Chevrolet owned and operated by Robert McKinley Summers of Washington, Va. was struck in the rear by Edwin Frank Huff of Flint Hill driving his 64 Mercury.
According to Trooper R. M. Dodson, the Summers car slowed when he ran into a cloud of dust created by a truck spreading lime on the road banks. The Huff vehicle failed to slow and struck the Summers car in the rear. Damage was estimated at $600 to the Chevrolet and at $800 to the Mercury.
Huff sustained wrist, lip and chest injuries and Summers had a shoulder injury. Thomas E. Jordan received a leg injury; George W. Jordan a chest and back injury and concussion; Morris M. Carter abrasions of the scalp and John M. Barbour abrasions of the leg, and contusions of his forehead and chest. All were passengers in the Summers car and all are of Washington, Va.
