Children who will enter the first grade in Rappahannock County next year will be registered at the Rappahannock County Elementary School on Wednesday, February 25, 1970 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., it was announced today by O. A. Norton, Division Superintendent of Schools. Every child in the county who will be six years of age on or before October 1,1970 ia to be registered by his parent or guardian at this time. In order that adequate educational planning may be accomplished, it Is very important that all entering first graders be registered on this day. Parents are reminded that they must present an official copy of their child’s Birth Certificate at the time of registration. Parents who do not have an official Birth Certificate should bring $1.00 to cover the cost of securing this record. The Public Health Nurse, Mrs. Frances Thornton, will be present at this registration session to explain to parents the required procedure for health examination and immunization of these pre-school children. VCU Art Students To Present Exhibit
Six students from Virginia Commonwealth University’s Painting and Printmaking Department have been accepted in a National Printmaking exhibit, Young Printmakers 1970, which is sponsored by the John Herron Art School of the University of Indiana, in Indianapolis, Indiana.
The VCU students accepted were Helen •' Wiesenfeld,. graduate student who also won s purchase award; George Roland, graduate student; Nannette Haid, graduate student; Ann Sawyer, senior undergraduate; Bill Brandt, senior undergraduate; and Frank Cole, junior undergraduate. Miss Wiesenfeld was formerly a social worker with the Rappahannock County Welfare Department. Approximately one hundred prints were chosen for exhibition in the Indianapolis Museum of Art during the month of February, 1970. Subsequently, the exhibition will be available for tour among ‘ art schools, colleges, universities, and museums for two years. The exhibition honors the sesquicentennial of Indiana University and offers an opportunity for exhibition, recognition and awards to a ipecial category of artists-those who are at present enrolled either is an undergraduate or graduate student in an art school, college or university art school throughout the United States.
