Junior Women's Club Meets February 24th
The Rappahannock Junior Woman’s Club will meet Tuesday, February 24 at the home of Mrs. William M. Hargett at 7:30 p.m. J. Newbill Miller will be the speaker for the evening with his subject, “Your County Government”.
Some Areas Eligible for Home Postal Service
Rep. John 0. Marsh, Jr., has been informed that some area patrons living near post offices now will be eligible for home delivery under a new Post Office Department policy.
Until now, patrons living within a half-mile of the post office had to go there to get their mail, unless the community had city delivery. Marsh said; but the new policy, announced by Postmaster General Winton M. Blount, will permit home delivery to households a quarter-mile or more away from the post office.
Marsh said he was told the delivery would have to be requested by the patrons affected, and a mjaorky of them in the vicinity of a particular post office would have to desire it.
Area post offices affected Include Amissville, Flint Hill, Sperryville and Washington.
