It even prompts a new look at the old “pumpkin” refrain and reveals a new laureate of questionable talent -

Now Granddad’s fumin’ cause his underwear itches

And Granny hollers - the wood pile’s mighty thin The mocker’s really singin’; his song so full of hope And the clover’s creepin’ upward and will perfume all the slope
