Well, it is about that time again. What time is that? Oh, you know, the time to buy new clothes, especially a new hat. And that is > about all it means to most of us.
Easter, what does it mean? Eostre, teutonic goddess of spring? My dictionary says it is a religious holiday. What religion? It may have come from Estarte, goddess of fertility • consort of Baal; god of sex. My question is: why are we associating it with the Christian Religion? Why are we still compromising with paganism? It would seem more appropriate for us as Christians to celebrate the Passover Supper at this time as true tenets of our faith, and also RESURRECTION DAY.
4-H Receives Seedlings
Three Rappahannock County 4-H’ers recently received pine seedlings from the Virginia Division of Forestry. They were James R. Riley, Amissville, Michael Beahm, Washington, and Jack L. Rinker, Flint Hill. These 4-H’ers Uke others throughout the state are helping to re-establish forests in Virginia. Their plantings will aid in off-setting the deficit of trees in the state.
Crafts Group Met
Arts and Crafts met at Cab-Inn on Tuesday, March 24 and classes continued in caning and rush chair bottoms. The caning class will be offered again at the April 14 meeting. All those who have started please attend this meeting so that the group can go on to; another project.
