Injuries Light in
Traffic Crashes
A single-vehicle traffic crash occurred March 19 about 12:15 p.m. on Route 638. According to Trooper W. A. Buntin, Jack Lillard Jr. of Flint Hill ran off the right of the -road and struck a tree. Damage to his 1963 Valiant was estimated at $300.
Occupants of two vehicles escaped serious injury Sunday night when they collided on Route 522 in the village of Flint Hill. Trooper J. B. Willis investigated the wreck which happened at 11 p.m.
Mitchell Allen Welch of Hume was driving a 1963 Ford and the other vehicle was a 64 Pontiac convertible owned and operated by William Henry Rector of Brandy Station.
Welch sustained lacerations of the Up and nose and Rector had a rib injury and laceration of the face. Rector was hospitalized over night in Front Royal.
Welch was charged with failing to drive to the right of the center of the road.
At 3:30 Monday afternoon a two-car collision occurred on Route 211 east of Washington. According to Trooper J. B. Willis, Collis William Dodson Jr. of Flint Hill, operating a 64 Chevrolet, was heading east. Mrs. Sallie Ward of Washington, Va. in a 63 Oldsmoblle station wagon, heading west, made a left turn into her farm lane in the path of the Dodson vehicle, which came over a hill. Mrs. Ward was charged with failing to yield the right of way.
Stevie Eugene Dodson, a passenger in the Dodson car, sustained lacerations of the forehead.
