On Saturday, March 28, 1970, the administrators of Lord Fairfax Community College entertained at the construction site the first eight students making application from each of the political subdivisions the college represents.
The students gathered at the temporary headquarter of the college at the Old Dominion Motel at 10:00 a.m. to meet William H. McCoy, president, and the other college administrators. •Oils was followed by a tour of the construction site on Route 11 Just north of Middletown and a luncheon at the Wayside Inn.
The eight students were Floyd' D. Hitt of Amissville, representing Rappahannock County; Bruce E. Roemmelt of Front Royal, representing Warren County; Bonnie E. Pennington from Warrenton, representing Fauquier County; and Judy K. Neff of Strasburg, representing Shenandoah County. Also present were Mrs. Joann Leight of Stephens City from Frederick County; Veda Gail Headley of Berryville, representing Clarke County; Coyt C. Cavedo of Luray, representing Page County; and Phillip E. Ward representing Winchester. Lord Fairfax Community College plans to open in September with an anticipated enrollment of 600
