Pheasant Season

Planned in Va.

In a surprise move during its recent meeting in Richmond, the Virginia Commission of Game and Inland Fisheries proposed a two day pheasant season for the state this fall with a daily bag limit of one cock bird. Pheasant hunting would be allowed all over the state on November 16 and 17, the first two days of the deer season. Although 10 years of stocking pheasants throughout the state has been only moderately successful to date, game biologists feel that an open season on male pheasants will not be detrimental to the program and may actually help the birds become established.
