Carnival Begins

Lights are aglow and the midway is taking shape as preparations are made for the fund raising carnival sponsored by Washington Volunteer Fire Department and Rappahannock Rescue Squad which is scheduled for Wednesday through Saturday, June 24-27. Rides, fun, amusements and good food will bid carnival goers a hearty welcome. Ten rides are scheduled for the midway and the food stand will offer tasty hot dogs, hamburgers, drinks, coffee and sweets. Young folk, old folk and those in between will find an appropriate amusement or game to suit their taste.
One young lady from those competing for Carnival Queen will receive her crown in a ceremony to be held Friday night. Highlighting festivities Saturday night will be the awarding of the grand prize, a 1970 Ford pickup.
These volunteer organizations need and welcome the support of everyone and your attendance and assistance will be appreciated.
2 Traffic Crashes
Reported Monday
Two minor traffic collisions, both occurring Monday, have been investigated by Trooper J. B. Willis.
At 7:20 Monday morning about a half mile east of Sperryville on Route 211 a 1969 Chevrolet pickup operated by Silas Dolan Jenkins and a 1970 Ford pickup operated by Frani Lee Atkins, both of Sperryville were involved.
