An “epidemic” of traffic crashes has spread through Rappahannock in the past week Fortunately for the victims, injuries have been slight. Tuesday night Mrs. Judith Roberson Harrison of Sperryville crashed into a tree on Route 281 south of Sperryville. The 1970 Chevrolet she was driving wts declared a total loss. Mgs. Harrison lost control of the vehicle and struck the tree. She was not injured, nor was her child, a passenger with her. On October 23 just west of Amissville on Route 211 two vehicles collided at 6:35 ajn. Thomas Edward Jordan of Washington, Va. operating a '61 Chevrolet was passing Margaret Virginia Foster of Castleton as, she attempted to make a left turn. No one sustained injury and noj charges were placed. Damage to the Foster car was estimated at $75 and to the Jordan car at $50.
On October 25, Raymond Jeffrey Rutherford of Kodak, Tenn. overturned just west of Sperryville on Route 211. He was driving a 70 Chevrolet and attempted to pass another car when he saw one approaching. He applied his brakes, lost control of the vehicle, hit the ditch and overturned. Rutherford was charged with reckless driving.
Carolyn Elsa Thomas of Fairfax overturned on Route 211 Monday night 2.3 miles west of Amissville. She was operating a 67 Volkswagen where she was forced off the road by an unidentified vehicle and turned over. She sustained a head injury, possibly a fractured skull.

Saturday morning a single cai crash on Route 211 west o! Sperryville netted a charge ol reckless driving for the operatoi of '67 Dodge van. Robert James Merikangas of Hyattsville, Md was not injured when he rounded a curve, lost control of the van and overturned on the shouldei of the highway. This crash was investigated by Trooper J. R. Quinley.
A school bus and a school teacher collided on a curve on a narrow county road last Friday afternoon. According to a report filed by Trooper L. C. Parrish, Jerry Lynn Brown of Amissville was the operator of a 1960 bus owned by Rappahannock County which collided with a ’64 Chevrolet operated by Dorothy Russell Spicer of Castleton. No injuries occurred and no charges were made. The wreck occurred on Route 626 east of Sperryville. Damage was estimated at $250 to the car and at $75 to the bus.
On October 27 Trooper Parrish investigated a collision on Route 211 two and a half miles south of Washington on Route 622 with two vehicles involved. Nathan Edward Fletcher of Washington, Va. was charged with reckless driving when he skidded into the rear of another vehicle, a '68 Ford station wagon operated by Ronald Eike of Dundalk, Md. Eike was slowing to allow a vehicle in front of him to turn and was struck by Fletcher in a ’69 Chevrolet. Fletcher sustained
