Refresh a wool garment quickly after wearing or unpacking it on a shower rod over a tub of hot water until wrinkles are steamed away. Use properly shaped hangers to fit the shoulders of your wool garments, then allow enough space between garments so they can hang freely in a well ventilated closet. Hanging is important. Pants should be hung by the cuffs, skirts by their waistbands. Garment hangers are best when padded the entire length of the shoulder seams. Make sure garments are buttoned, zipped and snapped into position to keep grainline in place. This cuts down on the need for pressing and adds life to your wardrobe.
Because wool is a living fiber -- fresh air and a quick brushing will revive a tired garment. A firm bristled brush, used briskly, will get rid of soil particles, fluffy the nap and rejuvenate the surface “bloom” or face of the wool fabric. Lint removers of the adhesive side of transparent tapes brushed over the garment surface removes lint, also lifting the nap. (A damp sponge may work better on a soft nap like sweaters.)
