Mrs. Latham: Who goofed? The sample ballot shows no party designation whatever. I have been deprived the privilege of voting for the party of my choice in the general election on Tuesday. Personally I feel this an attack on the basic governmental processes of our country. The basic concept that a strong two party system with its built in checks and balances is what makes democracy function. Candidates come and go but the two main parties have continued for more than a hundred years.
How does one ascetain the candidate representing the thinking of Jefferson and Jackson through the Democratic Party?
Who represents the G.O.P. and the thinking of Lincoln through the Republican Party?
Many are interested to know the Party label adopted by the maverick democrat for this election.
A look at the sample ballot should clear up all these questions but it only makes the election more confusing. I contend that it is the right o( the voter to know what party the candidates represent.
