members of the University's department of horticulture. The first school, scheduled for January 27, will be given at Wise at The Inn Hotel. Two others will beheld January 28 and 29 in the Y. M.C. A. building in Mt. Airy, N. C.
A February 5 school will take place in Naff’s Community House, Boone’s Mill. Others will be held February 9, 10, 11, and 12, at Massies Mill Ruritan Center in Uovingston, at the F'ire Hall, Sperryville; in Winchester’s Memorial Building on Sensency Road; and at the Mt. Jackson F'ire Hall, respectively.
Virginia Tech horticulturists planning to participate in the schools include C. R. Drake or K. D. Hickey, on apple disease control, and M. L. Bobb or C. H. Hill, on control of San Jose scale and other apple n^sects. Tech horticulturists George R. Williams, extension specialist, and F'red R. Dreiling, extension specialist in fruit, will join them in a review of the 1971 spray program.
Also to be studied or reviewed are chemical weed control, fertilization, mechanization and innovations, apple thinning and mouse control.
J. B. Bell will discuss apple packing and marketing for 1971. Dreiling will relate pruning to better quality fruit. H. R. Powers of the State Department of Agriculture will discuss beekeeping methods and management, and the Virginia
