1 p.m., January 21. The Privileges and Elections Committee has recommended, in most instances, large districts with more than one member serving the entire district. The committee has stated that it wishes to determine the feelings of the public on whether to have multi-member districts or to have single member districts. Under the latter, one delegate would represent a smaller geographical area.
A bill has been introduced in the House for the purpose of amending the constitution to permit persons 18 years of age to vote in state and local elections. In order for the constitution to be amended, it will be necessary for this bill to be adopted at this special session of the Legislature and at the next regular session in January, 1972. Then the question will be submitted to the people in a referendum for final approval o: disapproval.
